SideDog Privacy Policy
SideDog is a browser extension and web service that helps you understand web pages with AI. This policy explains what data we process, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account ID, email address, name and profile picture. We use them to create and identify your SideDog account.
- Usage records. We store your account creation time, sign-in time, trial and plan status, and a daily count of AI requests, so we can apply free-trial and fair-use limits.
- Content you send. When you ask a question, the extension sends your question, recent messages in the conversation and, if enabled, the text of the current page or your selection to our service, which forwards it to our AI model provider to generate an answer.
What stays in your browser
- Your conversation history and settings are stored locally in your browser's extension storage. They are not uploaded to our servers.
- Page content is read locally and kept in memory only while the side panel is open. Simply browsing does not send anything.
How we use and share information
- To authenticate you, provide the service, enforce trial and usage limits, prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
- Questions and page content are processed by Agnes AI to generate responses. We do not store the content of your questions, pages or answers on our servers.
- Our backend runs on Tencent Cloud EdgeOne, which may keep standard access logs such as IP address and request time.
- We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for advertising. There are no analytics or tracking scripts in the extension.
Browser permissions
- Side panel, storage, scripting: show the side panel, save settings locally, and read the text of the current page when you use SideDog.
- Identity: open the Google sign-in window.
- Access to websites (optional): requested only when you choose to let SideDog read web pages. You can revoke it at any time in your browser's extension settings.
Retention and deletion
- Account information and usage records are kept while your account exists.
- You can clear local conversation history at any time in SideDog settings.
- To delete your account data, email us at the support address on our website (coming soon) from the email address of your account. We will delete it within 30 days.
Sensitive pages
Please do not use SideDog on pages containing banking, payment, health or other sensitive information. You can add such sites to the "Do not read automatically" list in settings.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date above.
